Up to 8TB of high-performance, hot-swappable RAID storage in a 2U package!
Supports RAID 0, 1, 5 and 6
Combines the best in value with the newest technology
When you have a need for large storage for your HD projects, or large media files, database, photos, images, the HDPro is your storage solution!
With up to 8TB of capacity and offering RAID 0, 1, 5, 6 with the HDPro you'll have safe and reliable operation all in
a single package! Plus, the HDPro features breakthrough external PCI Express direct attachment
technology that essentially extends the computer PCI Express bus directly into
the RAID controller that is built into HDPro RAID Tower. This eliminates the bottleneck
of traditional external storage interfaces as well as the need of an additional expensive host
adapter!
High Speed - Low Cost
The CalDigit HDPro features SATA 3Gb/s drives with up to 32MB cache for the speed to meet the demands of the most up-to-date video & content editing software.
Each 7200-RPM SATA hard drive connects to a dedicated SATA channel to eliminate bottlenecks and maximize the 3Gb/s native SATA connection.
The HDPro scales in both capacity and performance and can deliver up to 400MB/s* in RAID
5!
*Using PCIe card. PCI-X bridge adapter is approximately 20MB/s
slower. Fastest
in it's class
The HDPro doesn't just provide a high sustained data rate...it provides the fastest speed in its class to date! The graph shows how well the HDPro is able to handle a real life video editing scenario.
You get great results, sustained speeds, and no dropped frames!
Other RAID storage products in the marketplace can playback 10-bit 1080i uncompressed HD footage, but
you will most likely experience frame dropping after just 2-3 minutes of playback. The
CalDigit HDPro is a true editing solution that maintains its data rates during editing and playback without dropping frames! Safe,
Reliable storage
The CalDigit HDPro offers flexible RAID configuration options, allowing
configuration for maximum performance, maximum assurance for critical data security (double parity RAID 6) or maximum
capacity (RAID 0). With single parity in RAID 5 mode, the HDPro features an advanced distributed parity algorithm, accessing data and parity blocks across all the drives in the disk array,
significantly improving RAID 5 write and read performance. Active Sustained
Transfer Technology
Uniquely engineered Active Sustained Transfer Technology (ASTT) optimizes the best transfer size and timing between RAID controller cache and the host
machine, eliminating performance drops and maximizing the sustained data rate.
With ASTT the performance of your HDPro is always kept in check and highs (or peaks) & lows (or drops) are equalized
during data transfer. Designed for nonstop operation
The CalDigit HDPro is designed for nonstop operation with uninterrupted access to your critical data. All active components are modular
in design and can be replaced quickly with a minimum amount of downtime.
Hot-swappable
fans and drive modules enable the system to keep running even if a module fails.
All active components are modular and designed to be switched in and out in seconds - No tools needed, no interruption of
service! Managing, Monitoring and Reporting Technology
The HDPro uses an environment monitor processor to monitor and manage all aspects of the system including: hard drives, RAID set, controller, controller cache, fan, temperature, power supply, and enclosure conditions. In the event of a problem, the HDPro will send out an E-mail notification.
The HDPro RAID Admin utility, RAID Shield, can build multiple RAID sets on the fly with variety of settings, cache sizes, capacities, slices, logical unit numbers, RAID levels...etc, enabling you to bring storage online with no waiting for initialization. Instantly, you can have RAID storage meeting your requirement. Since this utility is written entirely based on TCP/IP architecture, you can monitor and manage your RAID storage from anywhere on the Intranet. Once you've used this utility to set up your RAID sets, the RAID Admin utility provides at-a-glance status for monitoring subsystems for multiple local and remote HDPro systems. No
More 2TB Limitation from Windows Platforms
Windows uses 32-bit block numbers in the lower storage stack, which effectively limits support for hardware RAID sets. In the past to get storage unit sizes beyond 2TB, you had to combine multiple LUNs (Logical Unit Numbers) using Windows Disk Management.
CalDigits engineers have overcome this issue! Using the HDPro GUI: RAIDShield,
you now can utilize the full volume of an HDPro unit as one single volume!
That's right...up to 8TB in a single volume!
