Super fast, super easy setup - no software installation required!
Just slide two SATA hard
drives into the drive bays, set the RAID type with the configuration switch and plug it into a USB
or eSATA port. No
drivers needed for Windows 7, Vista, XP, 2000, Macs or Linux
systems! Enclosure accommodates and two 3.5" SATA hard drives and allows you to connect
them to just about any computer with a USB or eSATA port!

| Trayless design holds two 3.5" SATA hard drives |
|
Connects to USB 2.0 or eSATA ports |
- Supports RAID 0, RAID 1, Spanning, JBOD and more
- Trayless swappable 3.5" drive bays
- eSATA and USB 2.0 compatible
- Compatible with all 3.5" SATA Hard Drives, including the new 2TB
drives!
- No software drivers needed (built-in Silicon Image SiI-5744 hardware RAID controller)
- Works with Windows, Mac or Linux computers - any computer with a
functioning eSATA or USB 2.0 port
RAID 0 - Striping (FAST)
Set to RAID 0, splits the data and writes to both SATA hard drives at the same time,
moving data at double the speed of a single drive. RAID 0 combines both disks
into one volume...i.e. two 1000GB (1TB) drives are seen by the computer as a single
2 Terabyte drive!
RAID 1 - Mirroring (SAFE)
When set to RAID 1, all of your data is simultaneously written to both SATA
hard drives, creating a backup (or mirror) of your data on the 2nd drive. In the
event one hard drive fails, the enclosure will continue to function, reading and
writing from the good drive. Once a new hard drive is installed, the enclosure will
do an automatic background rebuild of the data to the new drive.
JBOD - Just a Bunch of Drives (Individual Drives)
When set to JBOD, the enclosure configures your drives as two separate
drives. Each hard drive shows up separately to the Operating System.
Handy for users that need to use separate drives, but only want to use a single
eSATA or USB port to connect them.
Spanning - Concatenation (BIG)
Spanning, like RAID 0 (striping) uses both disks as one volume. But unlike RAID 0 which writes a little data to each drive
in turn, spanning writes to one disk until it is full and then begins on the
next disk. Spanning is typically used if you have hard drives of different
capacities but would like to treat them as one volume.
SAFE33 and SAFE50
These two multi-RAID modes divide the external drives into two virtual storage areas,
one that focuses on data protection (RAID 1) and another area that provides increased capacity
(BIG mode). SAFE33 sets 33% to RAID 1 and 67% to BIG. SAFE50 sets
50% to RAID 1 and 50% to BIG. These two modes offer a balance between protection of critical data and maximization of space for non-critical data.
