The Adaptec Serial ATA II RAID 1420SA card is a four-port
PCI-X/133 MHz host controller featuring Adaptec HostRAID - an integrated RAID technology that maximizes system performance and uptime.
The Adaptec 1420SA supports up to four Serial ATA drives and offers RAID levels 0 (striping), 1 (mirroring),
10 (striped mirrors) and JBOD (individual drive).
48-bit logical block addressing (LBA) support enables use of
even the largest SATA hard drives.
The Adaptec 1420SA allows you to tune your system performance and data protection.
On a personal computer use RAID 0 (striping) for enhancing the performance of applications such as audio/video streaming and gaming.
In a small office or home office environment, use RAID 1 (mirroring) to write
your data to multiple drives, so you always have a backup of your precious data
and operating system. Four-drive connectivity allows the use of up to two striping or mirroring RAID arrays at the same time.
The Adaptec 1420SA provides improved performance over comparable SATA RAID controllers by offering a PCI-X/133 MHz host interface with bandwidth up to 1056 MB/s, which is twice as much as a common 64bit PCI interface. Plus, its four
3Gb/s SATA II ports can deliver drive throughputs of up to 300 MB/s each!
